CAKE DECORATING INSTRUCTIONS
Presentation of a Multi Tiered Cake:
At the early stages of designing a multi-tiered cake it is also essential to consider the presentation and although not always visible most cakes wioll require additional suppoirt i.e dowel rods to obtain the effect required.
General Information:
A. Cake pillars and dowel rods should be positioned evenly and it is advisable to prepare a pattern to ensure the correct layout.
B. The number required may vary according to the cake shape and size.
C. When creating a large cake and to give greater stability it may be advised to increase the number for the lower tiers.
Instructions:
1. The dowel rod is placed through both the pillar and cake, to fully support the cake, from the cake board to the top of the pillar.
2. Mark and cut the dowel level to the top of the pillar.
3. When using dowelling rods without cake pillars i.e stacked cakes, the rods are cut level with the top of the cake. Ensure that each tier is placed on a cake board, card or plate before assembling as required.
